How a mixed-use new construction in Mexico City stays secure in the IoT with an integrated building management system and state-of-the-art equipment at every level.

The Torre Diana project is a 33-story building located in Mexico City's Reforma Corridor, the city's central business district and most desirable office location. In addition to the 33 retail and office floors, there are seven floors of underground parking.

The goal was to implement an analytics and monitoring system that could manage high volumes of data and a large amount of rules for fault detection and alerting.

The building itself features an international standard HVAC system complete with dual air filters and individual temperature controls for optimum energy efficiency. With all of that data processing and connectivity throughout the building, security became a top priority.

Challenges

  • Working in a foreign country, with its own energy efficiency requirements and ways of doing business.
  • Lack of skilled technical labor in Mexico City.
  • Installation of a fiber backbone.

Successes

Buildings IOT commissioned the building automation systems and worked in partnership with Optigo Networks to create a secure and state-of-the-art IoT fiber networking system. SkySpark analytics software is used to collect and monitor building data, and to alert management when any "sparks" are detected.

Successes included:

  • Training and education of the existing workforce.
  • Creation of a world-class building with advanced energy efficiency
